Day 01 Arrival Paro International Airport

Arrival Paro airport and drive to Thimphu. Thimphu is about 1 hour drive from Paro and lies at an altitude of 2200M above sea level. Thimphu is the only capital in the world without traffic lights. Upon reaching the capital check into Hotel Taj. Hotel taj is a 5-star property located in the middle of the city. Spanning world-renowned landmarks, modern business hotels, luxury resorts, authentic heritage palaces, and rustic safari lodges enjoy the wellness program at Taj. If energy allows you can visit the craft Bazar which is just 5 minuts walk from the hotel. Move around the city. Evening at Hotel.

Day 02 Thimphu Tour

Tour the capital city. Breakfast at Taj is served till 10 o clock in the morning. The dining holds about 100 people and people from all walks of life join for breakfast. Our team from Tour Bhutan will be waiting outside for the Thimphu city tour. Today you visit the 13th arts and crafts school, National Library, and Trashichhodzong in the evening. Overnight at Hotel TAJ Tashi.

Day 03 Punakha Tour

After sumptuous breakfast from Taj Tashi drive to Punakha. On the way visit Dochula pass and enjoy the mountain view from the pass. We go for a short hike in Dochula. The hike takes about an hour. Further, drive down towards Punakha. Visit Chimi Lhakhang a temple located on a hillock overlooking Punakha valley. Evening at Hotel Uma by COMO.

DINING AND CUISINE at UMA: Much of the produce comes from local farmers-Punakha is considered one of the most bountiful valleys in Bhutan-which means the hotel benefits from fresh vegetables, fruit, and dairy products every day. All of this is used in traditional dishes as well as international menus.

Day 04 Punakha Tour

After breakfast from Bhukari restaurant in the Hotel, our team will drive you for 2 hours Khamsum yulley Namgyel Monastery hike. The route takes you through beautiful paddy field through villages.

The village of Nezigang is the starting point for our gradual ascent through cultivated fields and little hamlets to the Khamsum Yuley Namgay Chorten, a shrine recently built by the royal family. The shrine is an elaborate structure with a rainbow of Guru Rimpoche images and superb views of the Punakha Valley. We hike back down and follow ancient riverside trails amid whitewashed farmhouses, with a picnic lunch en route. In the afternoon, we visit the 17th century Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s former winter capital, built-in 1637 at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Po Chu (the Mother and Father rivers). The Punakha Dzong is an architectural wonder and seat of the head abbot of Bhutan. It has survived six fires, two glacial lake bursts, and an earthquake. This labyrinthine dzong has played a pivotal role in Bhutan’s history and has the official name of Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang, which translates as “the palace of great happiness.” Overnight UMA.

Day 05 Punakha to Paro

After enjoying the exclusive service from the Uma we see off our friends at Hotel and drive to Paro. Paro is 4 hours leisure drive from Hotel to Le meridian Hotel. Check into Hotel and relax your body for some time.

If time permits visit Drugyel Dzong also called victorious fortress believed to have protected the people from Tibetan invasion centuries ago. On the way back visit the 6th-century Kichu temple and Evening at Hotel Le meridian.

Day 06 Paro Tiger Nest Tour

Hike the secret temple. Start the journey. We hike up through pine forests festooned with Spanish moss to reach to the striking monastic retreat of Taktsang, the “Tiger’s Nest,” built into a sheer cliff face about 2,700 feet above the Paro Valley. This is the most famous temple in Bhutan. Padmasambhava, the great 8th century Buddhist saint and teacher, is thought to have landed at this spot after flying over the mountains from Tibet on the back of a tigress, thus bringing the teachings of Buddhism to Bhutan. The primary temple was built around Padmasambhava’s meditation cave in 1684. We enjoy our lunch en route at a teahouse midway with fantastic views of the monastery. Tonight we gather for our farewell dinner. Overnight in Paro…BLD
